Famous email with subject Your AdSense application status !
After two months of hard work, failing and failing again and again i finally got approved to adsense :). But let me tell you my complete journey on getting approved on google adsense for content. For me as a new blogger it was very difficult to arrive at this stage.
Although i have no traffic on my blog because it is just two months old and i know that i cannot earn much with adsense, i am very excited for getting approved on adsense. Why am i so happy and so excited when i cannot earn?
Well, the first reason is that now i have a great site. Getting adsense approval means a lot for a new blog like general tricks. It means that google liked my blog and this means that my site:
- has sufficient content to start
- has original and unique content
- is well structured and organized
- has a clear and full navigation
- no copyrighted images
- no scam or viruses
- and a lot more values that google knows and i don’t 😉
Before you decide to apply for adsense please read this article with attention, do not loose your time like i did. As an impatient new blogger i just wanted things to be quick and start earning on the first day of my blogging journey.
I just installed a wordpress within minutes on my host, registered a new domain name and imported content from my friends blog. He was so nice and kind with me, he agreed to help me giving his website content to me. He is a new blogger too, he didn’t know that doing like this my chances to get adsense approval would be zero :(.
I got everything setup within a day, i had a new blog live with 20 posts copied from my friend and a fresh domain. It looks everything good no? The money is now waiting for me out there LOL :P! I was thinking now i just have to apply for adsense and wait for their email notifying me that now i can start earning with adsense.
It sounds good. Hell no! It was not what i expected, it was the start point of an infinite suffering, pain, frustration, disappointment.
After 3 days i got this email:
”Thank you for your interest in Google Adsense. Unfortunately, after reviewing your application we’re unable to accept you into AdSense at this time.
We did not approve your application for the reasons listed below.
We’ve found that the majority of your sites’s content is in a language we do not currently support…”
I was shocked, i thought there might be a problem with google adsense reviewers. I was very convinced that they were wrong and they did a mistake during the review process because my site is totally in English language. NO i was wrong and not google.
They never make a mistake because the majority of the review is done by algorithms and bots of google. Now you think but where is the problem? If your site was totally in English then why adsense responded to you with that email? I had this question on my head too, and i immediately wrote a post on the adsense’s help forum:
Doctor Wayout from their help forum is telling me that Latin, or gibberish isn’t a supported language (O-O)!! But where did this strange text came from? I din’t write that! Well, do you remember what i said in the beginning of this article? I built a website in a couple of hours, copy pasted all content from my friends blog and downloaded a nulled wordpress template?
Yes, the problem was the wordpress template, there were hundred of latin comments part of template’s dummy data. Please don’t lough with me :(, it was so frustrating.
Another lesson i got with this email was never use a nulled wordpress template for your site! Notice that Doctor Wayout ironically is telling me that my site contains porn by saying: “Ya, porn isn’t a supported language.”
OMG, they are really stupid, how could they say this that my site contains porn? As a noob and as an inexperienced blogger i immediately responded to him telling he is wrong:
I am surprised that adsense didnt approve my application for this reason !
I really thank you.Your answer was a lot of help!”
Look at his genuine and full of credibility in his abilities response:
We continue to learn lessons
Practically the Doctor from adsense help forum is giving me a second lesson: It is not me who defines what is adult and what is not. It’s AdSense. So we should always take in consideration of what adsense defines as adult. Adult content is not just porn ;).
The great doctor is telling me that i have to delete all the posts from my site :(. Now i feel tired and disappointed, i have to delete all my copied post and write new posts, delete all the comments in latin and reapply for adsense. As an impatience new blogger, i wanted to start earning immediately and was thinking now i have to be smart.
I just delete some posts and not all the posts, copy other posts from my friends site to replace the deleted ones and finally i will get approved into adsense and i will start earning big bucks LOL. I did so and was waiting for their second response. Was i right this time? Did i get approved into adsense?
After a week of waiting i got the email from them. I was very excited, opened my gmail and started reading what adsense did respond to me this time:
Hell no! I was wrong again.
“As we mentioned in our welcome email, we conduct a second review of your AdSense application once AdSense code is placed on your site(s). As a result of this review, we have disapproved your account for the following violation(s):
We did not approve your application for the reasons listed below
Currently, only Google ads that we classify as family-safe are available through….”
I was wrong and the great Doctor from adsense help forum was totally right. It was just loosing time consequently had to delete all the posts. This time i deleted all the posts from my blog and copied new standard posts with just text and images from the web and applied again for adsense. I was lazy and impatient new blogger. I got a third email from them:
“We mentioned in our welcome email, we conduct a second review of your AdSense application once AdSense code is placed on your site(s). As a result of this review, we have disapproved your account for the following violation(s):
We did not approve your application for the reasons listed below
Site does not comply with google policies:
We are unable to approve your AdSense”
Now i feel really bad, hopeless, tired, frustrated… I was really thinking that google hates me and the just does not like me and there is nothing wrong with my site. Let us analyze a little bit my situation, what did it cost to me being lazy and trying to bypass google adsense rules.
It took me 1 week attending the first email, 2 days for deleting the unsuitable posts and customizing the site to reapply for adsense. I had 3 negative emails so in total i spent 3×9=27 days. So i lost a month just copying and pasting articles on my site and not getting approved in google adsense.
I i used this time writing original articles for my blog then i am pretty sure that at the end of this period i would have a fully approved adsense account now.
After this long month full with failures i decided to dive in seriously as i realized that i cannot have success copy pasting content from others. I roll up sleeves and got to work. Let start the the journey to the success :), i did all how it should be done and finally got this beautiful email:
“Congratulations! Your account now is fully approved.”
But how i got approved into adsense ? Well, let us begin the most important part of this article.
Important Things to Do Before Applying for Google AdSense
Quality Is King
If you intend to run a long term blog and apply for Google AdSense then the first thing you need to do is to write high quality content. You cannot have success on being approved to Adsense avoiding this step. Trust me! Google loves a blog who is providing original and unique content to their visitors. You have to understand that a good part of your application is reviewed by humans, so you have to impress them to get approved into the Google Adsense For Content program. But what i mean by high quality content?
High quality content:
- unique and original content
- very useful and informative
- long articles full of text
- no grammar and spelling mistakes
- well structured with headings and bullet lists
- illustration with your own photos
- no copyright infringements
- no rewriting articles
- and a lot more
The first reason is that it is a requirement of Adsense.
I think yes! If you have this page on your blog then Adsense reviewers will continue on checking other requirements on your blog, if you don’t have it then they will probably stop and immediately will send you those ‘horrific’ disapproval emails that i received from them.
Having a contact page gives the readers the opportunity to speak up to you and tell you what they want to read, what to be edited, what they liked or what they didn’t like. Also it helps you on reaching the success. A successful blogger is the one who gives to his readers what they want! So create contact us page to have more control on your blog. It is very useful if you include a contact form also, but it is ok with just your email address. Recommendatio, you add your email address that you are going to apply for adsense, also use a professional email like email@example.com
By creating this contact page, you are telling Google that we care for our customers, visitors and we are ready to help them. They can contact us anytime. It will convince adsense reviewers team that we do our best to serve our visitors in the best way and we are not doing this just for money and adsense.
If we carefully read an adsense rejection email. they mention that our blog should have a clear navigation menu to help your readers find your pages and access the content before you think about applying again for AdSense.
So it is very important that we add the main categories and the above mentioned pages to the sites menu to help our visitors to find what they are looking for with ease. The more we care about our visitors the more chances will be to get adsense approval.
How many posts should i have in order to get approved on AdSense?
Unfortunately there is no confirmed answer. No one knows exact answer on how many posts are needed to get AdSense approval, except Google of course! I know a lot of people having blogs with more than 150 posts and telling that Google AdSense keeps rejecting them, while on the other way i know a lot of other bloggers having just 20 posts and are actually making money with AdSense.
My blog posts were at least 500+ words with original and unique content. All text and images created by me and not a single word copy pasted! Things that i think that actually matters on AdSense approval are:
- Unique Content
- Unique Niche
- Clean Desing
- Easy Navigable Blog
- No Extra Widgets, just the basic ones
- Other things that we do not now for sure but i will try to list them below, continue reading!
Your Age, Name and Email Matters!!
I can imagine that you probably are thinking this is bullshit! But i can tell that you are wrong! Yes your age matters, you should be at least 18 years old. One of the mistakes that new bloggers make is they think age does not matter. They just write incorrect age and think they can cheat Google.
This is a foolish and a newbie action. You have to use your real date of birth and age during the application. Google AdSense is not for people who are under 18. If you don’t want to get in trouble and don’t want to be disapproved different times without any real reason. My advice: Be real and when applying for AdSense!
Try to put your real name and email address in a visible area, on about and contact pages because it will convince AdSense reviewers team that is the same person who owns the blog that is applying and not some spam or bot.
Your Blog Design and The Content Type Matters!!
Your blog design matters a lot and it should be a professional and good looking blog. Having messy photo gallery, links everywhere with no organisation will not help you. Make your blog clean, professional and try to minimize its loading time by reducing the image sizes and removing image and widgets redundancy. When a visitor arrives to your blog the first thing he looks at is the blogs design.
Which means we have to make possible a good first impression to the visitor and hopefully they will be engaged with our site. The blog design is the most important factor after the content. Make your blog simple, professional, with proper menus, easy navigable and do not insert useless items on the different widget areas.
Do not forget that any small reason can cause your application to fail! I recommend getting a premium theme from Theme Forest (feel free to use others as well) and do not use free or nulled themes. Using free and nulled themes can cause instability to your blog and loose of traffic. Hidden malicious code that can harm your visitors PC or can steal your traffic.
So to conclude make sure you have done all the followings before applying for AdSense:
- Write your own quality content
- Do not copy a single letter from other sites without their permission
- Do not use copyrighted images on your site
- Make sure you have at least 30 long articles or posts
- Verify your Email address
- Do not apply if you are under 18
- Make your blog’s design look good
- Make sure all your links are working
- Check your grammar and spelling for errors
- Do not use extra widgets that are redundant for your users
- Make sure you have an organized, easy navigable site with menus and categories
- Do not write articles about hacking, cheating, spamming and other things of this nature
- Finally, write for passion, take care for your users and don’t just write for adsense approval
All this article is telling is that google cares a lot about your users experience. Want to get adsense approval?
